Lower Lake >> Carlé High School students spent the day on April 22 participating in the Yuba College culinary class under the direction of Chef Robert Cabreros.
Students helped prepare lunch on what turned out to be the busiest day of the year for Aromas Café, the on-campus restaurant run by the culinary program. Each high school student was given a chef’s coat to wear and paired up with a student from the Yuba College class to assist with food preparation. Students also got to taste the foods they helped prepare
According to Cabreros, 80 to 90 percent of students who spend a day in the class as high school students enroll at Yuba and go on to complete the culinary certificate program.
Students who shadowed on April 22 were Chris Nuzzo, Angel Hernandez, Devyn Viale, and Jorge Onate. They hope to start in culinary classes this summer at Yuba College.
