
KELSEYVILLE >> Drew Woodson, a Kelseyville High School senior, has been named a member of the Class of 2015 Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program. In Woodson’s acceptance letter, the GMS committee wrote, “We commend you on your strong leadership, community service and academic achievements, and recognize you as a Leader for America’s Future.”
Gates Scholars receive financial funding to support educational expenses up to the completion of graduate degrees for studies in the fields of Computer Science, Education, Engineering, Library Science, Mathematics, Public Health or Science.
Woodson has been accepted for admission to U.C. Berkeley. At KHS, Woodson had a 3.98 GPA and he participated in cross country, track, CSF, Rotary Interact and the drama club.
Woodson said, “I am honored to receive such a prestigious scholarship. I am grateful for the academic foundation which I received at Kelseyville High School. Also, I am appreciative of Ms. Areli Dohner-Chavez, my high school counselor, who assisted me in the navigation of the application process.”
Woodson’s parents are Ernest and Lois Woodson of Kelseyville.
