Middletown >> Local high school student Sam Toback, from Middletown Christian School, competed at the District level of the Lions Club Speech Competition on April 25. His winning streak earned him a total of $425 and began at the Club level in Cobb back in February. Since his initial win, he took the title at the county level as well as the regional level in Napa.
As a sophomore who hopes to pursue a career in law or politics, Toback’s charisma and passion for public speaking is evident and he plans to participate in the Lions Club speech competition through his senior year. Students from Marin, Fairfield, and Sonoma made up the contestants at the district level this year. Toback placed second runner-up at districts.
“This opportunity has broadened my experiences in public speaking about important matters which affect our communities and our nation,” he said. “I am thankful to the Lions Club for creating this opportunity, and grateful for my achievements. My goal is to compete on the state level next year.”
