NATOMAS >> Eleven members of the Punishers Wrestling Club of Lower Lake and two Upper Lake Junior Cougars traveled to Natomas on Saturday to participate in the Sacramento Area Wrestling Association (SAWA) Championships. Freestyle and greco competition was offered and more than 200 wrestlers took part.

Taking firsts in freestyle competition were Blake Frecrickson, who went 2-0 in the 90-pound cadet bracket; Joseph Hughes in the novice division; Jonathan Fredrickson, who went 4-0 in the 60-pound novice division; Arturo Gudino, who went 2-0 in the 40-pound bantam division; Aiden Dancer, who won a first-place plaque and T-shirt; and Erick Moreno, who won two first-place plaques in the open division.

Bryan Gudino added a second in the 60-pound novice division, going 3-1. Thirds in freestyle action went to Austin Fredrickson in the 65-pound novice division, Adam Viramontes in the 80-pound intermediate division, and Nick Celli in the 60-pound intermediate division.

In greco action, Bryan Gudino went 2-1 and finished first in the 60-pound novice division. Finishing second and third, respectively, in the same division were Austin Fredrickson and Jonathan Fredrickson, both 2-1.

Seconds in greco action went to Hughes, Viramontes, Blake Fredrickson and Tristan Day.

The Punishers return to action this weekend at Shasta College in Redding.
