
LAKEPORT >> Lakeport’s Annual Memorial Day Parade salutes fallen members of the armed forces. Sponsored by the Lake County Chamber of Commerce, this year’s parade will fill Main Street at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 23.
The parade route travels from the Fairgrounds on Martin, entering Main at Martin Street and travels north to 10th Street, with the Judges Stand in front of the Special Districts office across from the Museum between 2nd and 3rd Streets.
Entry applications are available on the Lake County Chamber website www.lakecochamber.com just click on the Parade banner on the home page. They may also be obtained at the Chamber office at 875 Lakeport Blvd. at Vista Point or by calling 263-5092. .
The annual 4H Pancake Breakfast at Natural High School on Main Street, will be hosted again this year from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, by the Lakeport Kiwanis who also sponsor a two-day Craft Faire at the same location.
On Sunday, May 24, Lower Lake holds its Lower Lake Daze Parade and Pet Parade beginning at 11 a.m. with activities all afternoon until 3 p.m. The Lower Lake Community Action Group plans to include an Old Time BBQ, craft vendors, face painting, kids games, pony rides, music during the afternoon and a raffle. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit community projects. Following the parade, all activities are in the Russell Rustici Community Park, behind the Brick Hall.
Mendo Mill Home Center & Lumber Company, provides the Lakeport judges stage in front of the Lake County Museum. The very warm and familiar voice of Paul Reading will be heard as parade announcer.
The parade is sanctioned by the California State Horsemen’s Association, which presents an opportunity for equestrians to earn points for the CSHA annual award. Kim Cipro of Hidden Valley Lake is the sanctioned CSHA Judge for the parade.
The Chamber requests that members of the public honor the No Parking signs, which will be posted on Main Street from 1st Street to 4th Street, calling for no parking during the hours of 10 a.m. to Noon, on May 23. This area will allow unobstructed views of the parade for spectators. A County-wide announcement will be sent by the Lake County Chamber to inform all accommodations and their guests with information on the festivities happening over the weekend.
