Clearlake >> One man is in jail after a 9-month-old dog named Roxie sustained multiple injuries believed to have been caused by physical abuse.

Clearlake Police Department (CPD) officer Michael Dietrick responded to a call from the Clearlake Veterinary Clinic at about 9 a.m. Friday, according to Sgt. Nick Bennett. It was reported that Roxie had been thrown to the ground by 35-year-old Clearlake resident Michael Truscott and sustained a severely broken jaw with bones protruding from her face.

Officers located Truscott during their investigation and booked him into the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility. He faces a felony violation of animal cruelty with bail set at $15,000. At this time a report is being forwarded to the Lake County District Attorney’s Office for review where charges are being sought against Truscott.

Roxie is currently under the care of the Clearlake Veterinary Clinic, which needs funds for surgery to repair the damage done from the abuse.

A donation account is in place for treatment.

Donations can be mailed to Clearlake Veterinary Clinic at 3424 Emerson St., Clearlake, CA 95422 or directly to the City of Clearlake Animal Control at 14050 Olympic Drive, Clearlake, CA 95422.
