Politics

Oct. 12, 2007, Hillary Clinton supported the invasion of Iraq, stating Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, had restarted its nuclear weapons program and had harbored Al-Qaeda, yet she did not support the surge that won the war. She pays her female employees $.72 per hour while paying men $1 per hour, for which the man on the street interviews of Dem women say they can’t believe it. You should have seen the look on these women’s faces, total shock, it was priceless. But this shows the typical uninformed voter. Well, it’s a matter of record, so believe it! She so far has not given any interviews because she believes she has 47 percent of the vote so why do it? This is not the proper way to vet a presidential candidate, but does that mean 47 percent of you don’t care that maybe with all of the questions about the Clintons it doesn’t matter? Does that mean you don’t care about who is going to be your next President? What’s tragic is to 30 percent of you it won’t matter. That’s the Lemming Factor!

Remember the hammering that Mitt Romney took over his net wealth, yet the Clinton’s made $30 million last year. Wonder how the lame stream press will handle that? Not at all! [Editor’s Note: All major news outlets, including CNN, Fox, CNBC, New York Times, Washington Post, etc. have reported on this matter]. Wonder how Hillary Clinton is going to handle income inequality? With mounds and mounds of Bovine Excrement!

The new phrase of the left “micro aversion” with race baiting as a side order. And if you haven’t heard of this phrase, it will soon become the word of the day, compliments of the lame stream media and Rev. Al Sharpton, “aide to the President” and who owes the IRS $4.5 million.

Let’s not miss a chance

Our Nation is about to correct an age old injustice, as to the importance that the female gender has given to make our country as great as it is. It seems likely to feature a woman, Ms. Harriet Tubman, on the $20 bill to honor her contribution to help those in need of help, risking her own safety and life in doing so.

But it seems to me that we may be losing a wonderful chance at making this honor less then what it truly could be. At a time where there is great hope in improving the long needed relationship between our diverse cultural population that makes up our nation — which has made us as strong and we are — would it not be a greater example of that by adding another woman to the bill.

This could be done, by having not only Ms. Tubman on the bill, but also having Ms. Eleanor Roosevelt also. Her efforts in bringing equal rights and honor to those citizens of color alone with the needs of the poor, surely qualifies her for such an honor also. More important, if that was done, it would bring a visual example to the entire world how we acknowledge the value of the female gender, cultural differences and citizens of color, how we honor them for their contributions, how they bring meaning to the term created equal in our Declaration of Independence, the true foundation of our nation.

This would also offer a wonderful view for all our own citizens across the nation, especially our youngest citizens, to feeling a long overdue pride of being who they are, as to gender, color and culture. By them being able to see such an honor from all our citizens, I am sure it would offer a positive feeling in so many hearts and souls that have far to long been denied such feelings in their everyday lives.

Think of the far less important pride we all get when our home town sports team wins a championship or how we feel when we win a medal at the Olympics. This would offer that point of pride to all our citizens, that has far to long been reserved for only a part of our citizenry.

The past few years we have made great progress to the level of tolerance that few nations enjoy, and let’s not loss a chance to do even better.

Regarding nutty people killing our cops.

All over the United States I realize some cops are good people and some are bad people and some have a chip on their shoulder … but you have to remember sometimes your attitude at the time causes a chip on their shoulder. But cops are husbands, fathers, neighbors, brothers and sisters. Furthermore, where would we be if I said, tomorrow all CHP, all State Troopers, all Sheriffs, all City cops wherever you are stay home and take the day off and enjoy your family instead of risking your life trying to save a crazy person.

Think about where we would be if that happened and you had no one to call anytime you, as a person had a personal need for some type of legitimate officer’s help. Our world would come to a halt overnight, making Iraq look like a piece of cake compared to what we would have to deal with right here in the homeland. So before you think ill about any type of officer you should think about how lucky you are to have someone in that category that you could call. This is something that everyone needs to think about because people’s thinking, in general, is much, much weirder than cops are. It is our problems that they are always trying to solve. So the next time you think about a cop not being a nice person you should think about your attitude first.

Debt

Oh, goody! The Chinese have taken over as the number one foreign holder of U.S. debt. The Japanese have slipped to second. Our country is working toward an $18 trillion national debt and our government seems to go out of its way not to care. Personally, I’m ashamed — probably because I am old and grew up when being in debt was frowned on and was to be avoided when and whereever possible. The memories of the 1929 depression were too fresh. I am also old enough to recall the financial sacrifices the nation accepted to try and minimize the debt being caused by WWII and Korea.

During those wars the income tax rates, particularly on the higher income levels were so high as to give the Tea Party seizures. When I started to work after the GI Bill, I was shocked, but I understood the need. And those rates continued for years, but they pretty-much achieved their purpose. If you sweat some, you can work the debt down.

Sadly enough our present government does not believe in sweating, and is too cowardly to increase revenue (by all means) to even break even. Instead our country has managed to pile up tremendous debt in the past many years between eliminating the Glass-Steagle Act and the present, the result of lowering tax rates, fighting wars, trying to counter the effect of losing the safeguards of Glass-Steagle that led to the collapse of 2007. But, strangely enough, no tax rate increases.

We have found that reducing spending for the good of the country itself does not help largely because the “powers that be” are reluctant to do so mostly for ideological reasons, not economic objectivity or common sense. Sooner or later, we Americans are going to have to make some serious decisions that will determine the course our country is going to take — hopefully well before the election of 2016.

Express your concern

I recently met with our new Community Development Director, Mr. Ingram. I found him to be both patient and helpful as he listened to my concerns. Thank you, Mr. Ingram.

We discussed the City’s existing tree preservation ordinance and the loopholes therein, rendering it ineffective in most ways. We also talked about the desire expressed in the General Plan to create more public open space in the North Lakeport area, and how, even though that has been noted for years and years, it has been neither addressed nor remedied.

I am hoping that the residents of Lakeport will join me in expressing these concerns to our City government via the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and/or the Planning Commission.

Destructive forces

Barack and Billary could not look at the wife of Stevens that was allowed to be murdered in Benghazi.

Blood is on their hands.

Barack is making this an Obamanation. Obama is the puppet they are using to destroy America.

Predictive material

In response to my 2-11-2015 comment that 27 percent of the Bible contains predictive material, Greg Blinn implied that Jesus obviously erred when He predicted that this generation would not pass, “till all these things be fulfilled,” as it has been more than 50 generations.

Jesus’ words are in context with the previous verse in which He used the illustration of a fig tree sprouting leaves as a sign that summer is near. The generation He was referring to was not His generation, but the generation that sees all these signs take place.
