Lake County >> Meteorologists expect another day of scattered showers and the potential of more thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

Friday temperatures will range in the upper 60s to mid 70s, with more sunshine before the rain falls later in the day, according to National Weather Service (NWS) meteorologists Karl Swanberg.

Showers Thursday traveled east to west, he said. The amount of rainfall varied, with the highest 24-hour precipitation total in Lakeport at .61 inches as of Thursday afternoon. The Mount Konocti area received .1 inch of rainfall, Indian Valley .48 inches and Kelseyville had .21 inches of precipitation. There were, however, pockets of heavier downpours — particularly on Wednesday afternoon, with some home gauges recording more than an inch.

Additionally, the county received an average of about .25 inches Saturday and Sunday. Again, small areas were deluged with close to 2 inches. Thunder accompanied the rain, as well as lighting, which struck a home in Clearlake on Sunday. Dozens of other strikes were also reported around the area on Wednesday. And in Lakeport, a bolt of lightning hit a transformer along South Main Street, causing the transformer to explode and a power outage, which other areas around the county also experienced. No injuries were reported in either incidents.

Swanberg said Memorial Day weekend will be dry, with highs ranging in the mid 70s and upper 80s and lows in the high 40s and upper 50s. Monday, Memorial Day, looks mostly clear.
