
Clear Lake High School pitcher Rachel Wingler leads the Cardinals into action today against the Cloverdale Eagles in a North Central League I playoff game at 4 p.m. in Lakeport. The two teams tied for the league title, each going 13-1, and the winner of today’s game receives an automatic berth into the North Coast Section playoffs — either Cloverdale in the Division IV bracket or Clear Lake in the Division V bracket. Regardless of the game’s outcome, both teams receive co-championship pennants. The sectional tournament fields will be released Sunday. First-round playoff games are either Tuesday or Wednesday. Clear Lake brings a 13-game winning streak into today’s playoff game. The Cardinals’ last loss was a league-opening 2-0 setback to Cloverdale on March 24 in Cloverdale. Clear Lake beat Cloverdale 2-1 in 13 innings on April 17 in Lakeport.
