LAKEPORT >> Rose Family Preschool Program in Lakeport held their graduation ceremony on May 25 before a large crowd of family and friends. The 13 graduates presented a 45-minute performance reciting nursery rhymes and singing a collection of songs they had learned throughout the school year. Their final song, “The Little Caterpillar” told the story of a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly and then flying away. The students start their beginning preschool program as a Caterpillar and return the second year as Butterflies for the pre-k program before flying off to Kindergarten.

Instructor Martha Rose honored each child with special individual awards for their classroom achievements during the year. The “Butterfly” Student of the Year was awarded to Cali Albaum of Lakeport and the “Caterpillar” Student of the Year was Annabelle Hurley also of Lakeport. Rose adorned each student with invisible wings using her “magical rose” and then presented the diplomas to the 3 and 4 year old “Caterpillars” and the 4 and 5 year old “Butterflies,” signifying their graduation to the next phase of preschool and Kindergarten. Special butterfly cupcakes were served after the program to celebrate their special event.

Rose has been a licensed daycare provider with a preschool pro-gram for the past 28 years. Classes start in September and run through May. For more information contact Martha Rose at 263-3283 as fall classes are limited.
