Clearlake >> The California State Attorneys General’s Office now has murder charges filed in the case regarding a human skull found in a yard late November.

Gary Williams was arrested on Friday as the suspected killer of Guillermo Figueroa, 36, who was reported missing from Hidden Valley Lake on Oct. 27, Clearlake Police Department (CPD) Sgt. Nick Bennett reported in a press statement.

The CPD, Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the California State Department of Justice have been involved in the joint investigation into the disappearance and alleged murder of Figueroa.

Williams was also charged with special circumstances alleging he committed the murder while involved in a robbery and other crimes related to the murder itself, Bennett stated.

He along with Crystal Pearls, 41, have been charged with making terrorists threats, dissuading a witness and burglary. Pearls has also been charged with accessory to crime.

Police first received a call on Nov. 28 from a man in the 2700 block of Oleander Street who found a human skull in his yard. The following day, investigators found partial remains of the body roughly 100 meters from the home.

Autopsy and DNA results later showed the remains and skull to be that of Figueroa.

The investigation into the murder is ongoing and additional arrests are anticipated to be forthcoming, Bennett stated.

Any person with information should contact CPD detective Ryan Peterson at (707) 994-8251 ext. 320 or Department of Justice agent Heather Nelsen at (510) 515-2673.
