Kelseyville >> This Saturday, docents Tom McFarling and Val Nixon will lead a hike to the top of Wright Peak at Mount Konocti County Park beginning at 8 a.m. in the main parking lot, located 3 miles up the mountain from the end of the paved portion of Konocti Road in Kelseyville. This moderately strenuous hike will cover 6 miles with an elevation gain of 1,600 feet. Proper footwear, clothing, water and a light snack are encouraged.
The entire trip last approximately 4 hours and will include a chance to view the landscape from the fire lookout tower, provided you are over 18 years of age and sign a waiver of liability for the county park. Also included is a visit to the historic Downen Cabin. Wildflowers are in bloom and the weather is forecast to be beautiful. Reservations can be made by contacting county parks at 262-1618, or you can just show up as there are plenty of spaces available this Saturday.
