Lakeport >> Members of the Lake County Horse Council recently joined forces with the Equestrian Women of Toll Road to pick up trash along a 4-mile stretch of Highland Springs Road and Old Toll Road.
The horse council adopted the portion of Highland Springs Road from the dam westward to the Old Toll Road last year in order to continue to give back to an area which is popular among equestrians. Due to the remote nature of the area, it is a prime spot for illegal dumping, and volunteers were able to assemble a hefty pile of trash.
Along with the regular trash pick up, the horse council will continue its efforts toward the repair of trails that were damaged by the two major storms from this past winter. Other equestrian groups lend their assistance to the Highland Springs area including Equestrian Women of Toll Road and also the Hooves and Wheels Driving Club which maintains trails on several acres of open range on the Highland Springs property.
