Veteran’s aid

Twice a year, at Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day, I get disappointed and/or disillusioned when I think of the Veteran’s Administration. The basic cause is that at those times there seems to be a proliferation of ads and solicitations by private “veteran’s help” organizations who want me to contribute to them so that they can help veterans in (some kind of) need. As I understand it, these are organizations that probably help some, but after administrative costs, and who are doing work I feel is the duty of the VA.

Americans send people off to war (for good or bad) and one of the promises to those people is that they will be taken when they come home. For this the VA was created. My concern is that 1) the VA is not doing all it should, or 2) these private “help” organizations are scams directed to caring people. As far as I am concerned if the VA has voids in its services that are being filled by the private services, the VA needs to be persuaded to do its whole job and render the need for private aid eliminated.

Let’s honor our promises.

What we need

Just loved (quite a few years back) President Reagan when the French said they didn’t want any American’s on French soil, to which President Reagan replied “we will be over to remove all of the American Soldiers from their graves on French soil” — which solved the problem almost immediately. Now the question is, do you think President Obama or Hillary “what difference does it make” Clinton would do the same? I doubt it! As in anytime in history what we need is another Reagan. Right Now, before ISIS mounts attacks on the USA. I am taking bets at 100-1 it will happen because it has already happened and will happen again as in Fort Hood and because of the two in Texas that were shot who had ISIS ties trying to attack a function about Muhammad.

On the House and Senate floors Dems were shouting out “hands up, don’t shoot” in reference to Ferguson, Missouri. It was simply sickening and you cannot ignore the fact they were mostly all Black Dems. How do these people do this and how can they ignore the facts? Yet their constituents will re-elect these liars time and time again.

Scam

For those of you that shop or work at the Clearlake Walmart or Ray’s grocery — before you hand out your hard-earned dollars to the “Homeless Vet” panhandling at the stop sign exiting the parking lot check out the silver, late-model Dodge pickup a few yards from him and his dog.

I saw him leave in it after his “work” was complete for the day last week. When I confronted him today about that, his only comment was it belonged to the bank, that he was only making payments.

As an Air Force retiree and Vietnam veteran, I want to reassure the rest of the public he does not represent the majority of us veterans, who have character and integrity.

Bribes

For evidence of bribing, the people should look to the bribe, for all bribes must pass this way. Special methods of investigation should be legislated for discovering evidence of bribery, these including inspection of the official’s bank accounts and making legally accountable banks and bank employees. Also, the sentencing of the guilty should have the extra severity needed to discourage the prospective, as well as to reform the actual briber. All this because the bribing of elected governing officials is the counteraction of the will of an entire people by a shamefully cheap stratagem.
