Clearlake >> Students, families and staff gathered at Meadowood Nursing Center to celebrate 14 students who completed the Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Program on May 28.

The course is offered by the Lake County Office of Education (LCOE). Lake County Superintendent of Schools Brock Falkenberg welcomed the crowd, and senior director Tim Gill shared a personal experience to illustrate the importance of the caregiver to nursing home residents and their families.

Meadowood administrator Cheryl Cole spoke to students about the qualities of a CNA, and LCOE instructor Christine Caramella praised the students’ dedication and compassion in their quest to become healthcare providers.

Graduate Cassandra Peeples shared her words of wisdom followed by the presentation of certificates by LCOE coordinator Norma Cromwell. Upon completion of the state board exams on May 29, all graduates will be licensed Certified Nurse Assistants and eligible to enter the work force in their profession.

The LCOE Career and College Readiness Department is moving to the Lloyd P. Hance Community School at 1510 Argonaut Road in Lakeport and will be open as of July 1. The current office in Clearlake will remain open through Friday.

LCOE is in the process of coordinating the next CNA class. The 13-week course will take place at its new location at the Hance Community School campus. Clinical hours will take place at Meadowood Nursing Center. For more information, contact Cromwell at 994-9001, email ncromwell@lakecoe.org or visit lakecoe.org.
