Clearlake >> Volunteers collected over 100 yards of waste and recyclables during the city’s annual Clearlake Clean Up Day at Austin Park on Saturday.

About 70 participants picked up trash at various neighborhoods, parks and waterways. Many walked streets and trails, and some volunteers were even on kayaks and boats collecting debris from the shoreline of Cache Creek from Shaw Shady Acres to the dam.

Nearly 20 individuals, organizations and local businesses, as well as Clearlake staff and city council, contributed with the annual Clean Up Clearlake Day.

“We accomplished a great deal over the four-hour time period, and our city is better for it,” Clearlake Public Works Director Douglas A. Herren said. “It was good to see teams of all ages working together for the betterment of our city.”

The tire amnesty also took in more than 250 tires recovered within city limits.
