Cobb >> Jellystone Park will be host to “Rock on!” a family friendly, one day music festival on Saturday.
The concert features four local rock bands: The Fargo Brothers, Johnny Tsunami & The Hurricanes, Beatz Werkin’ and Hilarie & Milton. Gates open at 2 p.m., parking is free. Music begins at 3 p.m. and lasts until 8:30 or 9 p.m. Attendees are welcome to bring their own acoustic instruments for the drum circle afterward. KPFZ personality and DJ of the “Lost Treasures” show, “Pop” Booth will MC the concert.
Children will also have a variety of activities to keep them occupied. Penz Jewelz will teach how to make stretch bracelets, Regina’s Ribbons will work with children to make dream catchers and Candle Play will help them make candles in the sand. Two teachers from Middletown Charter School will teach basket making and science based activities and a representative from Golden Rocks Permaculture Farm will teach children how to work with Cobb.
Families are welcome to bring water toys, soft frisbees or large soft bouncy balls to play in the field as long as they refrain from interfering with the vendors and audience.
Approximately 20 vendors will be at the event. Services will include chair massages, face painting and professional photos. The Soap Shack Baby and Stacie Marie Essentials will sell handcrafted, all natural bath and skin care products. Jewelry and window ornaments made from shells, feathers, natural gemstones, crystals and re-purposed items will be on display from a number of crafters. Vendors will also show paintings, handmade nature cards hand painted silk scarves, crocheted scarves and baby toys, as well as tie dye for all ages. Damsel in Distress, a personal protection product, and lighted dog collars and glow sticks from Flashica will be on sale as well.
The Rock On! concert is the vision of Josiah Phillips, of Family and Friends Productions, a collaboration of like minded individuals from Lake County. What began as a party to celebrate his first year living on Cobb Mountain, has now grown into an event in partnership with the Time Bank of Thrive Lake County. Time bank members are assisting with planning, supervising, staffing, filming and as vendors at the concert. The concept of the time bank is that members exchange time instead of cash for services. Membership is open to any Lake County resident, business or organization.
Konocti Coffee will sell organic iced coffee and tea, and other cold drinks. Barbara Flynn, of Brick Oven Pizza, will serve the standard summer fare of hamburgers and hot dogs. Sammi’s Sandwiches will have fresh sandwiches on site, as well as sides, salads, chips and desserts. Big Chill Frozen Yogurt will have shaved ice, and flavored waters will be sold by North Coast Opportunities, the fiscal sponsor of the time bank. Various time bank members will make and sell sweets and baked goods. Snacks, ice cream, beer and wine can be purchased at the Jellystone Park store.
Jellystone also will be selling beer and wine at the concert. Alcohol purchased outside the campgrounds, glass bottles and pets will not be allowed inside the concert grounds.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own coolers, water, folding chairs or blankets, sunscreen, sun umbrellas and hats.
Tickets can be purchased with cash at the entrance for $15, or two time bank credits for time bank members. Children 12 and younger are free. Advance tickets cost $13 and are available at Jellystone Park store until Friday at 8 p.m.
Following Rock On!, there will be an after party featuring the rock band Audio Design from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Village Pub, located at 21365 Highway 175 on Cobb.
