Linda Foster of Rosebud Farm in Kelseyville recently purchased American British White Park cattle (two bred cows). She is only the third breeder in the state own this storied breed, the others being Stroing Ranch in Red Bluff and a farm in Anderson. White Park cattle can be traced back to ancient times, when Rome controlled Britain, according to the American British White Park Association. During Medieval times the cattle were allowed to roam on the land of nobility, hence the name “park.” In the early days of World War Two, England shipped several to the U.S. to preserve the bloodline. – Contributed Photo
