Napa >> A Lake County man is in jail after a fatal hit-and-run in Calistoga Tuesday. Investigators believe he was intoxicated at the time of the incident.

At about 4 p.m., Kenneth Schussolin, of Clearlake Oaks, was driving a 2011 Dodge Ram southbound on Highway 29 near Tubbs Lane in Calistoga when he crossed the double-yellow lines going around a curve. Schussolin, 67, traveled directly into the path of Harley Kellner, riding 1987 Harley Davidson northbound. The left front-end side of Schussolin’s truck hit the motorcyclist with such force that it sent Kellner and his bike airborne. The motorcycle crashed into a power pole, according to a report by Officer Randall Wayne of the Napa County California Highway Patrol (CHP). Napa resident Kellner, 58, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

With the help of CHP air unit and witness information, CHP Clear Lake area personnel took Schussolin into custody after initiating an enforcement stop near Lower Lake.

Schussolin was booked into the  Napa County Department of Corrections and faces three felony charges of hit-and-run involving death or injury, vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol causing injury.
