CLEARLAKE >> Walmart has announced plans to remodel and expand its current store in Clearlake. Originally built in 1994, the Clearlake Walmart expansion project will result in a larger grocery department and, according to the company, create about 85 new jobs for the local community.
“Having been a part of the Clearlake community for over 20 years, we are always looking for better ways to serve our customers,” said Clearlake Walmart Store Manager Travis Peck. “Remodeling and expanding our current store will allow us to offer our customers greater convenience by providing a one-stop-shopping experience, and create new jobs for the community.”
The plan for the store remodel and expansion, submitted to the city on June 16, calls for an addition of approximately 38,741 square feet of building area for a total store size of 148,258. The expansion would include additional food and general merchandise sales floor area, food sales support area, stockroom/receiving area, ancillary space, and food tenant space.
In addition, the exterior of the store will undergo a complete renovation, including parking lot lighting, signage, shading and the removal of the store’s Tire and Lube Express.
The store will also offer a pickup service that allows customers to order groceries and/or general merchandise online from Walmart’s website, and conveniently pick up their products at the store.
