Lake County >> Community Care HIV AIDS Program (CCHAP) and Mendocino Community Health Clinic, Inc. are teaming up on Friday, June 26 to celebrate National HIV Testing Day with five locations to provide free, anonymous HIV testing.

In Lake County, individuals can take the test at the CCHAP office, 8050-A Lake St. in Lower Lake, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and at the Lakeside Health Center, 5335 Lakeshore Blvd. in Lakeport, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

There will also be three locations available in Mendocino County: in Ukiah at the CCHAP office, 301 S. State St., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., in Ukiah at the Hillside Health Center, 333 Laws Ave., from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and in Fort Bragg at the CCHAP office, 205 S. Main St., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Participants will receive a $5 shopping voucher upon full completion of test while supplies last at the three CCHAP sites. Individuals interested in testing will have an opportunity to meet with a test counselor before and after testing.

The oral swab HIV 1/2 antibody test will provide results in as little as 20 minutes. Once the results are available, individuals will be given the results in private and in person.

According to CCHAP, more than 1.1 million people in the United States are living with HIV infection, and almost one in six are unaware of their infection. Early diagnosis and treatment saves lives.

For information, contact CCHAP at: 995-1606 or 462-3041.
