Renee Edwards of Middletown High School is one of five finalists for the Lake County Record-Bee’s female Athlete of the Year award for the 2014-15 sports season. Edwards struck out 244 batters, a Middletown record, during the 2015 softball season. Other finalists are Middletown’s Ashlyn Welton, Kelseyville’s Mary McCallister and Clear Lake’s Aliza Atkins and Emily Psalmonds. Edwards, McCallister and Atkins are seniors while Welton and Psalmonds are juniors. The winner will be named in the coming weeks.
