Clear Lake High School three-sport athlete Jared Strate certainly made his mark on the basketball court and baseball diamond for the Cardinals during the 2014-15 sports season. Strate averaged 15.7 points a game, tops in Lake County, including a county-best 64 treys. He generated plenty of offense in baseball as well, banging out 35 hits (second in the county) in 27 games. Strate is one of five finalists for the Lake County Record-Bee’s male Athlete of the Year award. Other finalists are Clear Lake’s Cole Brodnansky, Lower Lake’s Isazah King and Middletown’s Anthonie Guzman and Cody Chorjel.
