Lakeport >> In between agenda items at the Thursday Lake County Planning Commission meeting, Community Development Department (CDD) staff apprised the commission on several projects currently in the works.
In the Middletown area, there are plans for the development of an event center, two rainwater retention ponds for agricultural use and a rezone of the Williamson Act from APZ to TPZ. Staff believes the APZ zoning for the act was done in error, but to correct it the item has to appear before the planning commission.
The Cristallago Vineyards project has been “resurrected,” and the developers want to install 325 “resort units,” 650 homes, a resort hotel and an 18-hole golf course on 860 acres. The project was formerly slated to be a golf community, but present circumstances prompted developers to pursue other options for the property.
Vector Control is seeking to relocate all of its facilities to Todd Road and Parallel Drive, outside Lakeport. Previously, they sought to expand their facilities inside Lakeport, but were denied by the city due to the concerns of residents. This item is scheduled to appear before the commission on July 23.
ServPro, a company specializing in fire and water damage repair, wants to construct a 20,000-square-foot warehouse and 4,000-square-foot office on a parcel on Live Oak Drive. The property lies almost immediately behind the California Highway Patrol office, and across the street from a residential area.
There are also requests for rezoning in North Lakeport along Highway 29 to construct 48 two-bedroom apartments; and a proposed splitting of a parcel on Quail Ridge Road into three lots, each measuring about 40,000 square feet. Staff expressed some reservation as to whether the latter item should be approved.
Except for the Vector Control item, none of the other projects have been placed on the agenda.
The July 9 planning commission meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be held July 23.
