Clearlake >> The Highlands Senior Service Center (HSSC) is starting the new fiscal year with an expanded exercise program.
Starting Wednesday, you can attend the Tai Chi for Arthritis classes four days a week. On Mondays and Fridays the class will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the class is from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. HSSC will continue to have the Intermediate Tai Chi/Chi Gong class on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
On Thursday, join HSSC for its Birthday Luncheon. There will be a celebration for all of the July birthdays with a special program presented by the Angel Lites and Harmony Boys.
“There is always a lot of fun when this group of entertainers comes to visit,” Teresa Gottschall, of HSSC, said.
Most mornings find a dedicated group of card players enjoying coffee and poker. Come on down and join the fun.
On Tuesday mornings, there is a Low Impact Exercise group that meets at 10:30 a.m. You are welcome to join for some gentle exercise before the heat of the day sets in.
The Low Vision Support Group will be meeting from 1 to 3 p.m. on July 8. The Healthy Living Support Group meets every Thursday at 12:30 p.m. The Redwood Caregivers Resource Center will be presenting its July Caregiver workshop on July 21 starting at 1 p.m. And the Art Group meets every Friday at 9:30 a.m. for coffee, fellowship and art.
On July 29, HSSC will be having its All You Can Eat Pizza Fundraiser at DJ’s Pizza in Lower Lake from 5 to 8 p.m. Cost is $8 per person.
Also, mark your calendars for the Annual Highlands Senior Service Center Benefit Dinner, to be held on Sept. 19. Come dance til the cows come home to the music of Southern Comfort and enjoy a special meal, catered by the Yuba College Culinary Academy. Benefit dinner tickets are on sale now for $25 each and are available at the HSSC office, located at 3245 Bowers Ave. in Clearlake.
