An unidentified man runs toward flames approaching tall grass on Monday afternoon in an effort to help a Lower Lake homeowner stem the advance of a fire that erupted in his yard. Crews from the Lake County Fire Protection District arrived and quickly subdued the fire before it consumed half an acre. Neighbors reported that the homeowner had cut down much of the tall grass days earlier, heeding advice to create a perimeter around the house.
