Berenice Quirino – Lake County Publishing Miss Lake County 2012 Jennifer Humble fans herself to keep cool at the pageant organization’s Safe and Sane Fireworks stand in Lakeport Thursday afternoon at the Hillside Honda parking lot on Main Street. Funds from fireworks sold during the Fourth of July weekend go toward the pageant’s scholarships, which Humble said has helped her significantly. They raise between $3,000 and $4,500 annually and it’s the pageant’s biggest fundraiser of the year. The stand will be open again Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
