Clearlake >> Authorities have named Billy Mount as their suspect in an apparent drive-by shooting that took place in broad daylight and left one man dead late last week.
Detectives received information on Tuesday linking Mount, 35, to the murder of Steven Galvin, Clearlake Police Department (CPD) Detective Sgt. Nick Bennett stated in a media release. Mount has been in police custody since Sunday afternoon when he was initially arrested for outstanding warrants and remains at the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility on a charge of murder, along with a misdemeanor and three other felonies related to the case.
Galvin, 40, was reportedly shot outside a home in the 15000 block of 35th Avenue Thursday at about 3:40 p.m. Early scanner reports indicated that the weapon was a small caliber handgun.
The Clearlake resident was treated at the scene by medical personnel, then transported to St. Helena Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, Bennett stated.
Investigators from the CPD and Lake County District Attorney’s Office are now asking for witnesses to come forward and provide any information that could possibly assist in the case after learning that others may have seen the alleged crime committed, Bennett stated.
“Also, Clearlake Police Department wishes to thank the men and women of Station 70 of the Lakeshore Fire Station in the search of a difficult crime scene,” he added.
Any person with information in relation to this case is encouraged to contact CPD Detective Ryan Peterson at (707) 994-8251 ext. 320.
