CLEARLAKE >> In the city of Clearlake, individuals and groups are working singly and in concert to clean up the litter and debris — litter and debris that in some cases accumulated over decades. They are picking up litter in the undeveloped and vacant areas of the City, down in the ravines and in seasonal creeks.
The Citizens Caring for Clearlake (CC4C) is a group of local volunteers committed to defeating trash and litter in the city. From Monday, July 13 until Monday, July 20, CC4C will undertake the first phase of a massive cleanup effort in the 10.5 acre plot behind Pomo School in Clearlake Park. This area is reportedly notorious for illegal dumping.
The group will be working early every day through the project week, 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. to avoid the July heat. They will start at Arrowhead between Ciwa and Ukiah Streets. A dirt road leads onto the property and there is room to park without jeopardizing tires. Balloons will mark the pull in.
Everyone is invited to come and help. Organizers ask that volunteers wear sturdy shoes and bring gloves, a hat, sunscreen, and water to drink. Volunteers with a rake, hoe or shovel, a wheelbarrow or cart, are also needed.
