LAKEPORT >> The Lake County Fish and Wildlife Advisory Committee will hold a meeting tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. in the courthouse in the Board of Supervisors Chambers (BOS) in Lakeport. The meeting is open to the public which can make comments and recommendations on fish, wildlife and environmental matters.

Accord to Greg Giusti, who chairs the committee, public input is welcome. He said the committee is an excellent opportunity for the public to learn about the fish and wildlife in the county.

The advisory committee is a group of local residents which are appointed by the Board of Supervisors to advise them on fish and wildlife matters. The BOS sits as the Lake County Fish and Game Commission. The county receives funds from fish and game fines and these funds must be spent to enhance the county’s fish and wildlife. In the past the advisory committee has recommended that the county fund equipment for the Department of Fish and Wildlife (DWF) game wardens and to improve the lake as well as other projects that improve the county’s environment.
