LAKE COUNTY >> Both sides will have to wait a few more weeks to weigh in — again — on the hotly contested Kelseyville Dollar General store proposal. The Lake County Board of Supervisors postponed an appeal hearing until August 18.
The item had been listed on the board’s July 21 agenda.
Supervisor Jim Comstock would be unavailable for the original date. Meanwhile, supervisor Rob Brown indicated that he plans to recuse himself from the decision, as he owns property that may be affected.
On May 28 the Lake County Planning Commission denied the major permit application of Cross Development for a 9,100 square foot Dollar General, to be constructed near Kelseyville High School. The decision followed vocal opposition from residents of the community.
The Planning Commission cited several concerns in issuing the denial, including traffic and proximity to the school. The commission also pointed out that the Dollar General in Clearlake Oaks had made little effort to contribute to the community.
Cross Development appealed the decision.
The Board of Supervisors will now hear the appeal on August 18 at 10 a.m.
