LAKE COUNTY >> The Lake County Record-Bee will honor its high school Coaches of the Year and Athletes of the Year in boys’ and girls’ sports beginning with the Wednesday print edition.

Coaches of the Year will be honored first followed by Athletes of the Year.

Athlete of the Year finalists are juniors or seniors who competed in at least two varsity sports and who are in good academic standing at their respective high schools. This year’s finalists among the boys are Anthonie Guzman and Cody Chorjel of Middletown, Isazah King of Lower Lake, and Jared Strate and Cole Brodnansky of Clear Lake. Finalists among the girls are Emily Psalmonds and Aliza Atkins of Clear Lake, Mary McCallister of Kelseyville, and Renee Edwards and Ashlyn Welton of Middletown.

Last year’s top athletes were Kelcie Reynolds of Clear Lake and Josiah Amos of Middletown. Top coaches were Mike Smith of Upper Lake girls’ basketball and Ed Fuchs of Lower Lake wrestling.
