Clearlake >> On its inaugural Susan Constable Memorial Cruise for Hospice, members of the Clearlake Car Club cruised around the lake in 18 cars raising more than $500 for Hospice Services of Lake County.
Hospice staff met eight of the Clearlake Car Club’s 43 members — and their cars — on Monday in front of its Clearlake thrift store at 14290 Lakeshore Drive to receive the donation of $525.
Constable was a valued and longstanding member of the club, serving as secretary and treasurer, active in club matters and in numerous other clubs in the community. She passed away in early 2015. The club members voted to create an annual cruise around the lake in Constable’s memory to honor her for her past service and dedication. Impressed with the medical care and attention Constable received from Hospice Services of Lake County during her decline, club members voted to make hospice the beneficiary of the money raised by the cruise.
Mark Parode, president of the car club, says they are always ready to welcome new members, and all cars are welcome. Cars don’t have to be old for its owner to be a member.
The club meets regularly on the second Thursday of each month at the Lower Lake Community Center. For more information on the Clearlake Car Club, its activities or how to become a member, call Parode at 707-995-6091.
