The deep end
I am going to go off the deep end on the death of Kate Stienle and the death of five servicemen in Tennessee. Not a word out of this administration on this because it does not fit their political agenda.
They had to be “told” to lower the flags to half mast. This administration will not address Islamic terror or the fact that illegal aliens are committing a disproportionate amount of crime, and sanctuary cities are a part of the problem or should I point out that progressive liberalism is the problem. The city of S.F. has turned their backs on the citizens to promote their false interpretation of the law of the land. It is absolutely disgusting how you liberals will turn your backs on the law of the land and elect lawmakers who do the same. It is like you are turning your backs to what our forefathers fought and died for. And turning your backs on the fallen soldiers of WWII, who gave you the freedom that our founding fathers had envisioned, that gave you the First and Second Amendment to our Constitution, you will stand back and let this Administration delegate our Constitution to the UN to interpret in the Iran Deal. Shame on you! This is not my America or the one our founding fathers had envisioned.
This President has sidestepped the Constitution and you allowed your elected officials to be a party to this. Anyone that would blame Fox News for Kate’s death is a fool and should be run out of office because this SF Rep is the problem not Fox News! President Obama released a convicted drug felon because he was non violent. The question is how many people died by his actions, gang murders, drug deaths? And this President considers this person as non violent.
The Liberal conscious has brought back the saying, “the chickens have come home to roost.” The illegal alien problem has caused anarchy in this country, 640k crimes committed against Texans by illegals is not something to scoff at (as reported by Texas Governor Rick Perry). This President will put up rainbow colors on the White House but yet he won’t lower the flag to half staff to honor the five fallen soldiers and then goes play golf and a fund-raiser without a word of condolence. He will praise Trayvon Martin, but not fallen soldiers. What is wrong with this man or is politics the trump card? Oops, a right wing code word, tsk, tsk, tsk! How about giving Iran 150 billion dollars in this latest great deal to terrorize the world? What kind of code word is this?
How do you react to the fact that servicemen who are trained experts in fire arms are not allowed to defend themselves against ISIS? The same people that, we as US Citizens, who I expect these people to defend us and the US Constitution?
The President does not want to respond to these soldiers with even a simple phone call, but goes to a prison to release felons. He sends a message if you don’t fall into my political beliefs it doesn’t matter to me. Is this the American you really want?

Emotional history
Personally, I am fed up with self-appointed authorities interpreting our nation’s history in terms of today’s views and values, rather than to analyze those historic happenings in relation to the values and beliefs current at the time of the occurrence. To me, a good example is the hassle about Fort Bragg. Named for an outstanding (Federal) army officer in 1848, there are now voices demanding a name change because Colonel Bragg was a slave owner.
Surely we have equally absurd things to consider using the same point of reference as, perhaps, removing those writers and signers of our Founding Documents who were well known slave holders and were not damned for it. Or perhaps blast Mr. Jefferson off Mount Rushmore. After all, he is known to have had at least one mulatto child with a slave mistress. And he certainly was not alone, nor was that bad, given the relationship. On this subject, the actions that should be frowned upon were the interracial couplings that took place purposely to produce a mulatto offspring that was worth more than the mother. When an attractive singer is chided because she “allowed herself to appear too white” I know we have a problem. Think Lena Horne in this day and age!
For myself, again, I think we should judge history in terms of the values and beliefs that were current at the time the history was made, acknowledge and accept it, and recognize the need for a lot of changes to bring obsolete views to present beliefs. We, all of us, have to live with the fact that slavery was a fact, and, whether you want to accept it or not, the practice was both legal and accepted.

Dueling
Enough already with the personal potshots by a few letter writers. Give them pistols and 40 paces and let them put each other out of their misery.
