Lakeport >> The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2015, Lake County Honors Team and the Patriot Guard Riders will place the last two Civil War veterans grave stones at Hartley Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Aug. 22.
The grave stones are for U.S. army privates James Caulfield of the 136th New York Infantry and Michael Trafz of the Wisconsin Light Artillery First Independent Battery.
Caulfield (1837-1921) was born in Ireland. He was 27 years old when he enlisted at Elba to serve three years on Sept. 15, 1864. He then transferred to the Sixtieth Infantry on June 12, 1865.
Trafz (1826-1916) was born in Hamburg, Germany. He came to America at age 6 and was raised in Ohio.
Hartley Cemetery is located at 2552 Hill Road East in Lakeport.
