Longtime Kelseyville High School golf coach John Berry, who also doubles as tournament director of the annual Lake County Junior Golf Championship, received a custom-made trophy from one of his former players on Tuesday during the 22nd annual edition of the tournament at Adams Springs Golf Course on Cobb Mountain, Sophie Sells, who graduated from Kelseyville in June and is headed to Mendocino College in Ukiah to continue her golfing career and education, made the trophy herself. It depicts a knight (Kelseyville’s mascot) holding a golf bag. Pictured with Berry and Sells were the two youngest competitors in this year’s Lake County Junior, 6-year-old Billy Witt (far left) of Clear Lake Riviera and 9-year-old Charles Johnson of Kelseyville, who won the 10-11 boys’ age division. Johnson has been active on the Lake County Junior Golf Circuit since age 5.
It’s custom made
