Monday is the first official day of practice for Lake County’s high school football teams. Kelseyville and new coach Erick Larsen (above) play their first game on Aug. 28 when the Knights host De Anza of El Sobrante, a team they easily handled in their 2014 opener. The rest of the county teams — Clear Lake, Lower Lake, Middletown and Upper Lake — play their first games on the weekend of Sept. 4-5. Upper Lake moves into an eight-man football league this season under second-year coach Frank Gudmundson. The Cougars are scheduled to bring in portable lights to host their first night game on Sept. 19 against Potter Valley. Lake County’s senior coach, Bill Foltmer, is returning for a 31st season at the helm of the Middletown Mustangs.
