
LAKEPORT >> Dig out those “Blue Suede Shoes”, Poodle Skirts, hang those dice in your car window and get ready for a great time, because it’s time for the 3rd Annual Hot August Nites Car Show & Concert. The event takes place Saturday, August 15 at Lakeport’s Library Park. Hours are 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Come early to see those beautiful cars, trucks and motorcycles “cruise the main” before they set up in front of Library Park for the Car Show on Park Street.
Lots of food and drinks from local vendors, as well as crafts and 1950s memorabilia will be available, starting at 4:00 p.m. Free concert by L. C. Diamonds will start at 6:00 p.m. Free Car show runs from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Many raffle prizes. A ‘50s costume contest for both children and adults will be held.
“Something for everyone. Meet your friends, bring your family, enjoy the beauty of Library Park, listen to great music, dance, sing, eat great food, maybe win a raffle prize—what a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon and evening”, said Jonathan Crooks, director.
Vendor choices range from hot dogs, hamburgers, pulled pork sandwiches to jewelry, sno-cones, oil paintings, ice cream, Elvis memorabilia and 50’s themed clothing.
Vehicles vary from 1912 Ford C-Cab, ’31 Chevy Roadster, ’73 Chevy Wagon, ’66 Ford Mustang, ’36 Ford Phaeton, ’69 Camaro-and many more.
Raffle prizes are plentiful, from courtesy passes to Cinema 5, Snoopy’s Ice Rink in Santa Rosa, Lakeport Speedway, Schwinn 3-wheel bike donated by John Puccetti of Affordable Travel, Coleman Portable Gas BBQ donated by Judie & Al Reynolds, an Anti-Gravity lounge chair, a complete ladies ‘50s costume and a ‘50s painted tool box donated by a “mystery shopper”.
Carlton Tire generously sponsored the event for $250 and both McDonalds-Lakeport and Cheese’s Pizza donated gift cards for the winners of the Costume Contest.
