Middletown >> A Middletown man died at the scene of a motorcycle crash Thursday morning.

The victim of the fatal incident, 54, was riding a 2000 Kawasaki when he collided with Susan Nowell, 58, who was driving a 2006 Toyota at the intersection of Highway 175 and Napa Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Nowell came to a stop traveling southbound on Napa Avenue. Meanwhile, the motorcyclist was heading westbound on Highway 175 traveling at roughly 55 mph, the CHP reported. As he approached the intersection, Nowell reportedly did not notice the victim and pulled out directly into the motorcycle’s path, which struck the left side of the vehicle. The man was pronounced dead shortly after by fire personnel.

His name has yet to be disclosed by the county coroner’s office.

Nowell sustained only minor injuries from the crash, which took place just after 8 a.m.

Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be involved in the accident, which is currently under investigation.
