LAKE COUNTY >> Eighth-grader Paige Bour of Kelseyville, a member of the Lake County Junior Giants, has been awarded the Harmon and Sue Burns Scholarship.
The $5,000 scholarship can be used for college or post-secondary training following high school graduation.
Junior Giants award the scholarships to 13-year-olds entering the eighth grade. It is one of 10 scholarships available covering a three-state region where Junior Giants programs are implemented. Winners must be active members of Junior Giants who demonstrate teamwork, leadership and a dedication to education and community service.
Bour won the Lake County Junior Giants Willie Mac Award last year. The Willie Mac Award is given to a Junior Giants player who exemplifies the standards set forth by the Junior Giants program, including leadership, self-confidence, service to others and dedication to the program.
