Lakeport >> “Read to the Rhythm,” Lakeport Library’s 2015 summer reading program, held an awards party on Saturday, Aug. 8 at Library Park to congratulate all the young people who successfully completed the challenge.

Participants were broken into two groups: “listeners” were awarded a free children’s book, and “readers” had their names placed on a special sticker on the inside cover of a new book donated to the library by the Friends of the Lake County Library organization. The readers were also able to check out the book with their name in it right at the park. Both groups had to work their way through either 25 books or 1,000 cumulative pages to get an award. They also received commemorative tote bags, certificates of completion and a coupon for a free personal pizza from Roundtable, and could choose a small prize from a treasure chest, such as bracelets and bubbles.

Presenting the awards were Lake County Library Director Christopher Veach, Children’s Programs organizer Barbara Green, and Lakeport Library volunteer Nancy Silva. The other Lake County Libraries also held similar events that day.
