Five karate students at Lake County Martial Arts in Lakeport brought home rings, medals and trophies from a Golden State Karate Association tournamment last weekend in Manteca. Above, from left to right are Gabriel Collins, who finished second in one event and third in two others, winning a ring; Hunter Melvin, who brought home a pair of rings for first- and second-place finishes; Jordan Marquardt, who won two events and two rings; Gage Templeton, who won a first-timer award; and Armando Maldonado, who won a ring and a medal for his two first-place finishes. He also placed fifth in another revent.
