Clearlake >> Officers are on the lookout for a vehicle involved in a fatal shooting that took place Monday in broad daylight.
Police responded to reports of shots fired on the 14000 block of Woodland Drive at about 10:14 a.m. When they arrived, they found the unnamed victim wounded on the front porch of his home, according to detective Sgt. Nick Bennett.
Paramedics were called in and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The vehicle of interest is described as a white Ford pickup truck, standard cab with a USA sticker on both rear quarter panels.
Detectives have yet to determine a possible motive, but Bennett noted that there was a marijuana grow of about 50 plants in the back of the property.
Homes where pot is cultivated have been targets for criminals looking to steal plants, processed marijuana or money, Bennett said.
This marks Clearlake’s fifth homicide case this year, including a double-murder in March Bennett said may have also been marijuana related. Adding that they’ve arrested suspects in nearly all of the cases.
