Lakeport >> Public works crews are preparing for an upcoming sewer project this week and will have lane control measures in place on Main Street between Sixth Street to Clearlake Avenue through Friday.

Work will begin on Monday to replace the public sewer and storm drainage lines that have been in place for more than 50 years. The new pipes will be larger and are estimated to last 100 years.

There may be temporary street and lane closures that could affect traffic because of the construction activities, said Cynder Ader of the Lakeport Public Works Department. However the proposed improvements will be spread out in several phases that are expected to take between two to four working days each to complete in order to minimize the project’s impact. The job will last approximately a month.

“The city of Lakeport, its engineering firm and the contractor performing the work intend to do everything possible to minimize the impacts to nearby businesses and residents,” Ader said.

A construction observer will be onsite during the project along with city staff to ensure operations run smoothly.

For additional information call the city of Lakeport Public Works Department at (707) 263-3578 or construction observer Eric Marshall at (530) 949-8566.
