Middletown >> The last few months have been busy for the Middletown Lions Club, with the indoctrination of two regular members and one Student Lion, and the installation of their officers for 2015-2016.

On April 15, the Middletown Lions welcomed Vincent “Vinnie” Pavone and Charles “Chuck” Clevenger, both who said they were inspired to join and are eager to serve.

On June 25, Michael St. Clair was indoctrinated into the organization, sponsored by his fellow and Lion Rob St. Clair. That day the year’s officer’s were installed by Lions District Governor Phyllis Rogers presiding as installing officer.

The Middletown Lions Club was chartered on June 3, 1957. The charter president was Vernon Genesy. Since that time the Middletown Lions have participated in many buildings service projects: the community swimming pool, shelters at school bus stops, wheelchair ramps, the Community Building. In addition, they have helped the Middletown Senior Center with many projects, participated in White Cane Days to provide glasses and eye surgery for many locals, worked with school children on Flag Day and Speakers Contest and the Peace Poster contest, and helped pick up discarded items during Middletown Cleanup. In the past they have sponsored a Trap Shoot and continue to sponsor the local Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop. They also sponsor the Middletown Lioness Club.
