Clearlake >> The victim in Monday morning’s fatal shooting has been identified as Arnoldo Rangel-Villanueva.

The 36-year-old was shot in front of his home on the 14000 block of Woodland Drive by an unknown suspect.

Officers were called to the scene just after 10 a.m. When they arrived, they found Villanueva wounded on the front porch and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, according to detective Sgt. Nick Bennett. The exact cause is pending a scheduled autopsy.

The suspect is unknown at this time, but investigators developed a vehicle of interest described as a white Ford pickup truck, standard cab with a USA sticker on both rear quarter panels, Bennett said. Police continue to be on the look out.

According to investigators, a marijuana grow of about 50 plants may have been a possible motive for the shooting. The grow made it a potential target for theft of plants, processed marijuana or money, Bennett said.

Any person with information is encouraged to contact detective Elvis Cook at the Clearlake Police Department at (707) 994-8251 ext. 315.
