Cal Fire declared The Jerusalem Fire 97 percent contained, with the perimeter remaining locked at 25,118 acres destroyed.

On a further positive note, authorities reduced the number of homes destroyed by the blaze, which began on the afternoon of Aug. 9, while the Rocky Fire was ongoing. After further investigation, Cal Fire lists six residences destroyed, along with 21 outbuildings.

A comparative skeleton crew now defends the fire line. Remaining on the scene northeast of Middletown are 382 firefighters along with 13 engines and a single helicopter on patrol.
