LAKEPORT >> Rehearsals are underway for “Arsenic and Old Lace,” the Lake County Theatre Company’s next production. This farcical dark comedy boasts a cast of energetic teenagers from all around the county. “We have actors from Upper Lake, Clear Lake, and Kelsyville high schools, Mendocino College freshmen, and quite a few home-schoolers,” explained mentor director Maheanani Phillips. “While some of them are fairly new to the stage, others are veterans and have been seen in such LCTC productions as ‘Beauty is a Beast,’ ‘A Christmas Carol,’ and ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.’ I am amazed at the talent in this group of kids and am confident they will put on a fabulous show.”
Arsenic and Old Lace was brought to the LCTC board of directors earlier this year by CLHS student Chris Griffith, who wanted to direct it as his senior project. The board rallied around the idea and several members volunteered to help him with directing, producing, set building, and stage managing. Chris’ senior project will finally come to life on stage in late October.
The play opens October 24 and continues the 25, 31, and November 1. All performances will be held at the MAC performing arts building at Clear Lake High School.
