HEALDSBURG >> The win wasn’t there but the effort certainly was for the Lower Lake Trojans in a 5-0 loss to the Healdsburg Greyhounds in non-league varsity boys’ soccer action on Friday in Healdsburg.
“That was an excellent workout for us against a great, quality team,” Lower Lake coach Dan Griffin said. “Overall the best I’ve seen the kids play this season.”
Healdsburg held a 3-0 lead at halftime.
“We had a handful of (scoring) opportunities but nothing materialized,” Griffin said.
Standouts for Lower Lake, according to Griffin, were keeper Antonio Pimental and one of the team’s half-dozen sophomores, Angel Ochoa.
Lower Lake is 0-3.
The Trojans face another tough road battle Tuesday against Petaluma High School.
