Kelseyville >> Author Kevin Griffin will facilitate a daylong meditation retreat that focuses on ways to bring a light heart and clear mind to a personal recovery program at A Positive Light Meditation and Spiritual Center at 6470 Kelsey Creek Drive in Kelseyville on Sunday, Nov. 8 beginning at 11 a.m.
“We will explore ways to cultivate joy using traditional Buddhist mindfulness teachings, Twelve Step teachings and contemporary practices for increasing happiness and contentment,” said Griffin, who is a dharma teacher at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, California. Griffin has authored several books on recovery and Buddhism, including “One Breath at a Time,” “A Burning Desire,” and “Buddhism and the Twelve Steps”. He has just released his new book, “Recovering Joy”.
Kevin is a leader in the mindfulness recovery movement and a founder of the Buddhist Recovery Network. A longtime Buddhist practitioner and twelve step participant, he teaches nationally on the synthesis of these two traditions.
Griffin is hosted by local meditation teacher Reiki Master, proprietor of A Positive Light in Kelseyville Joanie Lane and local author, mindfulness teacher and life coach JoAnn Saccato, MA. He will also be a guest on Lane’s T.V. show, A Positive Light, on Monday, Sept. 9 at 3 p.m., broadcast live on LCM-TV.com.
“Kevin is one of my favorite recovery authors. I feel so incredibly blessed and grateful to get the opportunity to host and interview him. Kevin is an internationally recognized author bringing his generous heart and message to us. It is a real gift,” said Lane.
“I’ve gained much from Kevin’s written work and sat with him several times,” said Saccato. “He has a special way of bringing together mindfulness and recovery clearly, from a heart-centered space.”
